In detail

Threadless means the decorative end has a slim pin that press-fits into the hollow post; there is no screw thread to run through the piercing channel. The back is flat rather than domed, so it sits level against the skin behind the ear. This is the construction most commonly used by professional piercers. Post is 0.8 mm across and 8 mm long.

Looking after it

To remove, hold the flat back and pull the front straight out — do not twist. Re-bend the pin only lightly if it loosens.

    The flat back genuinely does sit flush. I sleep on that side and it does not press in the way a butterfly clutch used to.
