Lobe is the earring shop of A & A JEWELLERY LIMITED, a private limited company registered in england and wales based in Redditch — a town whose metalworking trade was built on needles and fish hooks. Making something thin, straight and accurate out of metal is the local skill. An earring post is exactly that.
The reason this shop exists in this shape is a gap we kept running into. Earring listings describe the front — the stone, the finish, the drop. They rarely tell you anything about the part that spends the day inside your ear. And that part is the one that decides whether you can wear the thing at all.
So we inverted it. Every piece here publishes six things before it publishes anything decorative: what the post is made of, what nickel release limit it is tested to and under which standard, how thick the post is, how long it is, what holds it on, and what one piece weighs. Those figures sit at the top of every product page and under every card in the catalogue.

What we sell
Six lines, all of them earrings
Nothing here is a necklace, a bracelet or a ring. That is a deliberate limit, not a stage we are growing out of.
The boundaries
What we do not do
A shop that will not say what it refuses to sell is a shop that has not thought about it.
- We sell earrings only. No necklaces, bracelets or rings.
- We do not sell earrings intended for children under 12.
- We do not offer a piercing service and we do not sell piercing tools or needles.
- We do not sell ivory (Ivory Act 2018) or any CITES-listed material, including coral and tortoiseshell.
- We sell consumer jewellery at retail. We do not deal in investment-grade bullion, and we do not buy, refine or trade precious metal.
- No membership, subscription, monthly box or stored credit. Everything here is bought once and owned.
The language
Words you will not find here
Some of the standard vocabulary of this category makes promises nobody selling metal can keep. We took those words out and enforce their absence in the build.
“Hypoallergenic”
It sounds like a specification and functions like a guarantee. We publish the nickel release limit and the test standard instead, alongside a plain statement that meeting a limit is not a promise that nobody will react.
“Surgical steel, so it’s nickel-free”
316L contains nickel. What matters is release, not presence. We state grades and limits and never use the phrase as shorthand for safety.
Anything medical
No claims about infection, healing, inflammation or wellbeing. Where healing comes up at all we state material and construction facts and point you to a professional piercer or a healthcare professional.
