In detail

A threader works differently from every other piece here: a 25 mm rigid 0.8 mm bar leads a 60 mm chain, and you pull the bar through the piercing until the chain hangs at the length you want. There is no clutch and no back. That means nothing to lose, but also nothing holding it in — if the chain is knocked upward it can slide back out. We would not wear one in a crowd or while sleeping.

Looking after it

Feed the bar through slowly rather than pushing. Store hanging so the chain does not kink.

    Lovely to wear and very light. Do take the warning about them sliding out seriously — I lost one in a coat collar in week two. Bought a replacement anyway.
