In detail
Cartilage is firmer tissue than the lobe and takes considerably longer to settle after piercing. The flat back on this stud sits level against the skin behind the ear rather than standing off it, which is why flat-backs are the usual choice for these positions. Post is 0.9 mm across and 6 mm long — shorter than a lobe post, because cartilage is thinner than a lobe.
Looking after it
Pull the front straight out to remove. Clean around the flat back where it meets the skin.
